How setup your scan /scanning using the Ion Docuscan [usb mode]

Hi all,

I decided to make a tutorial for my dad on how to use the ION DOCUSCAN. I bought this device for my dad because he is a trucker and once I heard the ridiculous amount of money he spends on faxing, I decided to get him this device to cut his faxing bills by ALOT. Anyway, lets begin this tutorial.

The ION DOCUSCAN is a portable scanning device. It is small, which makes it easy for it to be carried around on business trips. It is very easy to use . It has a search button, an on/off/menu button and a scan button. The screen on it is fairly big(2.4inches) , which is nice because you don’t have to squint that much to see what’s on the screen.

On the back there is a SD/MMC slot, a usb B port , and a DC-IN 5v port. Since, my dad don’t really have the capability of using the DC-IN, I’m going to show you how to scan using the usb port/cord as both a power source to scan the documents and to access your scans on the computer.

Let’s actually begin setting up our scan and scanning…shall we?

Step 1: plug in your usb into the computer.
note : the usb cord that comes with this device has one side with a single usb and the other with two (on the side with the two usb’s , one side is shorter than the other).

The one with the single , you want to plug that into the back of the ION DOCUSCAN. The two headed side is where it gets a little complicated. To scan, you want to plug [the shorter one] into your computer usb port.

Step 2: turn on the ION DOCUSCAN by pressing the on/off/menu button.

Step 3: Select USB power.

make sure it’s highlighted and select the ‘OK’ Button .

Step 4: Put your paper face down into the front of the Docuscan and select SCAN.

note: make sure the docuscan is grabbing the paper or else it will just keep telling you to insert the document facedown. Once, it has  grabbed the document, make sure that its coming out straight or else the document scan will be skewed ( aka don’t have things at the back of the docuscan that will block the document from coming out).  Having the docuscan on a flat surface helps in making sure the document comes out clean.

Okay, now we have successfully scanned a document into our DOCUSCAN.  In my next blog, I will talk about accessing the documents you just scanned into your computer.
